Driving the Utilization of AI-Based Digital Technologies and Solutions in Indonesia's Innovation Ecosystem

Taking a leading role as a digital ecosystem enabler in Indonesia, Telkomsel, through T-Connext, the company's innovation ecosystem exposure platform, seeks to empower the growth of the digital ecosystem by connecting Telkomsel's products, innovation portfolio, and investments, with digital ecosystem players in Indonesia; an effort highlighted through an event hosted by the company in Jakarta (23/11) under the theme of 'Enabling T-Connext Ecosystem Through AI: Supercharging Innovation for Tomorrow.’ Held in partnership with Foundry, the event strives to facilitate all participants of the digital ecosystem in working together to enhance the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and provide the latest AI-based solutions within Indonesia’s innovation ecosystem.

 

Director of Planning & Transformation of Telkomsel, Wong Soon Nam, expressed, “The existence of Telkomsel's T-Connext innovation ecosystem platform, along with the diverse activities it encompasses, reflects the commitment made by Telkomsel as well as our nation to collaboratively pioneer breakthroughs through the utilization of cutting-edge technology that will help drive the advancement of Indonesia's digital ecosystem while simultaneously encouraging the growth of the national digital economy. Through this event, which is centered around the theme of AI, Telkomsel hopes, through T-Connext, to open up more opportunities to optimize synergies and establish an inclusive, sustainable digital ecosystem. We have also put a primary focus on fostering the growth and development of AI-based innovations, aiming to have a positive impact on the nation's progress in both the present and the future.”

 

The T-Connext 2023 event, focused on building networks, enhancing capacity, and facilitating value creation in the digital ecosystem, was ceremonially opened by Telkomsel President Commissioner Wishnutama and Telkomsel Planning & Transformation Director Wong Soon Nam. The keynote session was delivered by Microsoft Indonesia President Director Dharma Simorangkir who addressed the theme of ‘Harness the Power of Generative AI for Innovation Ecosystem.’ The event also showcased a wide range of activities, including a Networking Session designed as a platform for startups, portfolios, investors to meet and explore collaborative opportunities, a Panel Discussion themed 'AI: Innovation For Tomorrow' featuring Deputy Minister of Communication and Information Nezar Patria, Telkomsel Marketing Director Derrick Heng, and Pluang Founder Claudia Kolonas, as well as an AI Innovation Showcase highlighting Telkomsel's startup portfolio and AI-related innovations from partners such as 'AI on Business & Experience' (Feedloop.ai) and 'AI on Learning Platform' (Sekolah.mu and Inspigo.id).

 

Furthermore, during T-Connext 2023, Telkomsel Mitra Inovasi (TMI), a subsidiary of Telkomsel in the investment sector, rebranded its name and logo to Telkomsel Ventures to consolidate its position as a Corporate Ventures Capital (CVC) within the T-Connext innovation ecosystem. This rebranding initiative is part of Telkomsel Ventures' ongoing commitment to identify and nurture potential startups, fostering synergy value between Telkomsel's prominent assets and digital ecosystem advocates. The objective is to actively contribute to the growth and empowerment of startups in Indonesia, ultimately strengthening the national digital ecosystem.

 

In addition to Telkomsel Ventures, T-Connext features three additional innovation pillars aimed at encouraging the growth and development of the digital ecosystem and startups in Indonesia. These pillars include NextDev, designed and positioned as an impact incubator for early-stage startups with a focus on creating social impact through sustainable business processes that adhere to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles; Tinc, which serves as a startup acceleration program for a variety of digital solutions based on the latest technology; while INDICO, a Telkomsel subsidiary that contributes to the development of Indonesia's digital ecosystem by facilitating measurable business growth through the maximization of value creation in product development, business incubation, and strategic investment.
